About Tasty Fever

I began Tasty Fever as an outlet for my passion for food and drink. Not only do I like to eat, but I’m fond of cooking, especially baking, and creating a blog that would allow me to share my experiences as a home baker was an idea I’ve had for some time.

In addition to baking, I also like to read about the history and culture of food and beverages, having a fondness for books like Michael Pollan’s The Omnivore’s Dilemma and Tom Standage’s A History of the World in Six Glasses.

When I first began this blog, I lived in Orlando and had written on a few places I’ve been to, eaten at and had a drink or two (or three). You’ll find that this blog will also include places and focuses on London, having lived there for over a year.  This blog has shuttled back and forth across the Atlantic as I caught up with the Orlando scene while keeping tabs on what was going on in Londontown, where I am now living again.

With that in mind, Tasty Fever will combine coverage of my baking antics with commentary on restaurants, pubs and bars, along with food anecdotes, little book reviews on related subjects of interest, recipes to share, favourite beers, what my cohorts in the SOAS Anthropology of Food programme are doing now and my latest trip to the grocery store, along with some other random writing that often peppers a personal blog, although much of that has now been shunted off to another blog, London Dear.

I do hope you enjoy these meanderings, and feel free to share some of your own experiences enjoying good food and libations. See you at the table, catch you at the café, meet you at the pub.

Sort of stern note: This blog is a personal blog, not some money-making operation or some way for me to get famous and reach thousands of followers. Any inquiries to write guest posts on this blog about your new blogging strategy/over-hyped and unrelated product/anything else unrelated to my own personal feelings about foody, beery, drinky or eaty stuff will be unanswered. No one else writes on this blog but myself, and I do so poorly. If you want to write a post about whatever the hell you’re promoting, start your own damn blog.

And no, I’m not going to link to your website, either, unless I like it and I think it is interesting and relevant to this blog.

  1. hey ex-landlady,

i ate dog once – no, twice – any canine posts coming up? also, wee bryan keeps suggesting a buffet in boystown…

  2. No canine posts on the docket yet, although I won’t rule it out in the future–although I probably will rule out any first-hand experiences, providing no one tricks me into thinking the dog meat is some exotically processed tofu. Tofu a la Labrador.

Bryan’s Buffet in Boystown? Sounds like a lurid YouTube video. My eyes should be shielded for just thinking about it.
