About Tasty Fever

I began Tasty Fever as an outlet for my passion for food and drink. Not only do I like to eat, but I’m fond of cooking, especially baking, and creating a blog that would allow me to share my experiences as a home baker was an idea I’ve had for some time.

In addition to baking, I also like to read about the history and culture of food and beverages, having a fondness for books like Michael Pollan’s The Omnivore’s Dilemma and Tom Standage’s A History of the World in Six Glasses.

When I first began this blog, I lived in Orlando and have written on a few places I’ve been to, eaten at and had a drink or two (or three). Now, I live in London, and although I don’t quite have the bankroll to embark on a proper food blog that involves reviewing eateries in the city, I’d still like to talk about my experiences here.

With this in mind, Tasty Fever will combine coverage of my baking antics with commentary on restaurants, pubs and bars, along with food anecdotes, little book reviews on related subjects of interest, recipes to share, favourite beers, my progress in my Master’s in Anthropology of Food at SOAS and my latest trip to the grocery store, along with other random writing that often peppers a personal blog.

I also am about to embark on a socio-ethnographic study involving going to one hundred pubs for one hundred (or, likely, more) pints.  It’s the 100 Pubs Project, which you can read more about in “Hey, London!  Let’s Have a Drink!”

I do hope you enjoy these meanderings, and feel free to share some of your own experiences enjoying good food and libations. See you at the table, coffee shop, teahouse, pub or bar.

No canine posts on the docket yet, although I won’t rule it out in the future–although I probably will rule out any first-hand experiences, providing no one tricks me into thinking the dog meat is some exotically processed tofu. Tofu a la Labrador.

Bryan’s Buffet in Boystown? Sounds like a lurid YouTube video. My eyes should be shielded for just thinking about it.
